The Celebration of the Festival of Lights

Diwali, also known as Deepavali, the Hindu festival of lights is celebrated by followers of Jainism, Sikhism, and Buddhism as well. In 2023, it will fall on Sunday, November 12. The five-day celebration includes Dhanteras, Choti Diwali, the main Diwali celebration, Govardhan Puja, and Bhai Dooj. The festival signifies the victory of good over evil and is associated with illuminating the ‘inner light’ that wards off spiritual darkness. The difference between Diwali and Deepawali mainly lies in regional linguistic variations. The festival also holds deep spiritual significance, symbolizing the consciousness that connects us to the Creator.
